AI/Generative Art Insutitusion

Our Provocations

As we journey into the heart of creativity, we challenge long-held notions of art as a uniquely human endeavor. The lines blur between tool and collaborator, between human and artificial intelligence. Who claims the acclaim for the beauty birthed in this nebulous space?

What Does Creating Art with AI Mean for Us?

When humans use AI and computer programs to craft art, we transcend the conventional boundaries of creativity. This venture into the digital expanse broadens our artistic horizons, enabling us to tap into novel patterns and perspectives. But it also prompts us to ponder on its true meaning. Are we diluting the essence of human creativity, or enriching it with a new kind of symbiosis? This exploration compels us to redefine art, probing deeper into what it truly means to express human sentiment and experience.

Tool or Collaborator?

The entrance of AI into the art scene blurs the line between tool and collaborator. Unlike traditional tools, AI introduces a level of autonomy, an ability to learn, evolve, and possibly understand. So, do we view it merely as an advanced tool, or do we acknowledge it as a co-creator in the artistic process? The distinction between the tools of old and AI has become obscured, compelling us to question our existing understanding of creation.

Who Owns the Acclaim?

As art evolves with AI, the concept of authorship becomes less clear. Old norms of credit attribution are challenged – is the creator the programmer, the user, or the AI itself? The question is no longer solely about who wields the brush but about who orchestrates the machine and how the machine interprets those directions. In this context, who rightfully owns the acclaim? This question drives us to reconsider our definitions of artistry, originality, and creation.
